So I told you all that Matt + Carly are two very special people to us. Remember Dan + Rachelle? Well, we met Matt + Carly through Dan + Rachelle! (Whew, that was a lot of plus signs… :D )

Matt + Carly + Dan + Rachelle + Michael + I (ok try and follow THAT! :D ) all go to church together and we are all in the young married couples Sunday School class. We have really enjoyed getting to know Matt + Carly and everyone in our church, and Michael + I look forward to a long friendship with these two!

Last Saturday we had the opportunity to photograph them, and we are so glad we did! Carly told me that she and Matt had not had any pictures of them done since they got married and Michael + I jumped at the chance. :D

Let’s start off with some favorites, shall we? I couldn’t decide which one I liked best, or in color or black and white, so I posted them both. Why you say? Because I can. :)

Reason #53476487637 I love shooting with my husband. Here is an example of his shot that was taken at almost the exact same time I was taking the above shots. He ROCKED OUT on this one!!
carlymatt0037

I love how Matt + Carly have such an ease about them. I love how they just love each other and can laugh at silly little things. :D

Another [Lauren] favorite! I love this in black and white, and you can’t tell by this photo; but Matt has the BLUEEEEST eyes EVER! Maybe that’s one of the reasons Carly fell in love with him… :D Care to “insert comment here” Carly?

We found this AWESOME wall and most of you know about my love affair with murals. If not, keep reading. You will ;)

After we found this wall, I had remembered seeing this really cool lightbulb on the side of a building! You know we had to hit it up.
One of my favorite images ever taken! :D

Where we were hanging out, there were some wild dandelions growing, and pretty soon, it was all out war!

My shot.

Michael’s shot :D Story below.
carlymatt0038

When Carly was blowing her dandelion at Matt, and she ended up blowing it REALLY hard into Matt’s face, so Matt decided that he was going to get Carly back. Well, needless to say, I was NOT going to miss this, I knew it was going to be an epic in dandelion blowing history.

Oh this is tremendous.

Matt, don’t hate me.(I have to put that little disclaimer. You’ll see why :D )

Love this series.

Are you ready? ;)

Look at the last image closely, see how hard he blew? Look at Carly’s hair! This cracked me UP while editing!

A [Michael] favorite.
carlymatt0035

Remember rolling down hills when you were a kid? Yep, we did it. :D Love this.

Matthew + Carly are two people that are incredibly special to us. We had the pleasure of hanging out with them all afternoon on Saturday and we shot them to pieces. :)
Here is a little something to wet your appetite…

A little dandelion blowing. Made me chuckle. :D

Kat Small is a fabulously talented videographer from South Florida! Her business is Cinema Chic Films, and let me tell you, she does some amazing work. Michael and I were privileged to work with her recently when she came up to play with us out at Rosemary Beach! Kat filmed our new promo video, which we will debuting soon here on the blog.
Kat, you are such a great friend and you are AWESOME at what you do. Michael and I count ourselves lucky to have met such a kind soul as you. :D
Here are some of our shots from the day.

Kat, you are beautiful!

Work it! Work it!
katblog4

We had some beautiful light that day. Different than my normal processing but I dig it.
katblog5

Kat has this insanely awesome Canon film camera that I was dying over. So cool.
katblog2

Kat has lived all over, including Hawaii, and she was telling us all about living in Hawaii while we were shooting. I love this image because when you meet Kat, she is so easy going and relaxed. I thought that this was reflective of her personality.
katblog3

Go check out Kat! Brides, if you are looking for a great videographer (and I SERIOUSLY suggest you DO!), I highly recommend Kat. She is personable and easy to work with. You will love her!

Stay tuned for our promo video coming up soon! You will see just what she can do!
Love love love ya Kat!

Before we get into the images, I have some BIG news that I must tell you all! My fabulous husband and best friend in the whole world, Michael, has become my photographic partner in crime (literally- but more on that later!) That’s right folks; we are now a husband and wife team! Michael had assisted me on some shoots in the past and I noticed that he had an eye for composition immediately. He just SEES things- he can see things from different angles that I might have missed if he were not there. I knew he was talented, and I told everyone that he was holding out on me. :)

We had just talked about becoming partners in the past year, and finally I decided to put a camera in his hand and let him fire away. I loved the results. Seriously guys, he could definitely give me a run on some of the stuff he shot!
So, Michael and I will now be shooting most weddings and portraits together. I am so excited to be able to show you both of our perspectives from shooting. This is such a huge thing for both of us, and we are so excited to see what the Lord brings to our lives and through our business as we make this transition to the next chapter. I love you, Michael.

Now, onto the real reason for this blog post. :D Dan and Rachelle are two of our very best friends. We go WAY back to when we first met at our old apartment complex in Tallahassee, when we lived in the building right next door to each other. Michael was outside one afternoon walking our dog, and Dan was also out walking their dog. Our dogs hit it off (haha!) and Michael and Dan stood talking for over an hour. Dan invited us to their church and at first, I am ashamed to admit it; but Michael and I had both been struggling spiritually with different things in our life and questioning our faith. We had been trying out different churches in the area, but never did we find one that we felt we were really comfortable in. That Sunday, we decided to go with Dan and Rachelle to church.

I remember that day very well. Pastor Ray seemed to speak directly to us and our struggles, and that day, the Lord burdened my heart so much that I could almost not bear it. During invitation, I began to cry almost uncontrollably. Rachelle and I had become friends; but that day, she reached over and grabbed my hand, and we went up to the front of the church together. I was finally able to let go of all the hurt and feelings of insecurity that I had been holding onto for so long. Rachelle, I don’t know if I ever thanked you for that. God sent you both into our lives right when we needed it. I have come to realize that His timing is absolutely perfect, and that His blessings just continue to flow down. Because of you and Dan, Michael and I have finally come to feel like we really belong somewhere.

Dan and Rachelle have been an ever constant source of love and support for us, and you both mean so much more to us than you will ever know.
We had been trying to plan this “anytime” session for weeks and it seemed that something always came up! The first weekend we tried to do this, I came down with the flu! The next weekend, both of us were unavailable and then the following weekend, it rained all day both Saturday and Sunday. When we FINALLY got around to shooting, God blessed us with some truly beautiful weather. 65 degrees and gorgeous sunshine all the way baby!

I met up with Lizzie and Jesse last Saturday at Lichgate to hang out with them and their two boys. Lizzie and Jesse are getting married end of February, and I can tell you, I think this is going to be one of my favorite weddings to date. Lizzie is planning a beautiful vintage wedding, and from what I know of the details, I know I am going to be in HEAVEN! (As you know, I hold a very special place in my heart for vintage, as my wedding had kind of a vintage feel to it! :) )
Onto the images!
First up, probably one of my favorite family portraits of all time. I must have been saying something HILARIOUS.

Thier youngest son Xavier (Xay for short) is the cutest thing EVER! Are you kidding me with those eyes?

Jay loves to climb trees! Seriously, he is like a monkey. I was SO nervous how high up he was! Lizzie and Jesse just shrugged, “he’s been climbing trees since he could walk.” AHH!

One of the few minutes I could catch Jay NOT moving full speed!

And now for the happy couple. :D

I found out that Jesse is like a master at Kung Fu, so naturally, we had to show that somehow. The God in me salutes the God in you- ‘Namaste’
lkpblog4
Seriously, I adore these two. Lizzie wrote me a sweet email the other day and said that Jesse was a little nervous before, but that I totally converted him! :) Thanks so much you guys, I cannot WAIT until your wedding!
