Guilt is a powerful thing!

I feel SO guilty for not updating all my readers out there in blogger land! I was just talking to a good friend of mine and fellow photographer, David, and I realized that I have not posted on the blog in almost a week! :( I am so far behind on blogging, and for that I ask all of you to forgive me for not doing that, this surprise that I have coming has set me back a little with some unexpected things. So be patient, I promise it IS coming SOON! :D In the meantime, I am going to do my best to post:

A FABULOUS engagement session with Susan + Andrew!

Megan + Barry’s gorgeous wedding (shot with my friend Kylene! :) )

and… Blake and Kiley’s baby is here! I just did a fresh baby session with them yesterday and hopefully I will have a little sneaky peek on here too, very soon!

I will be out of town this weekend (planning my own wedding, did I ever mention I am getting MARRIED in less than 2 months?!?!?! :) ) so between all that, I am totally swamped! But I love love love all you guys! Bear with me a little longer!!

Spring…er…Summer cleaning!

Hey everyone! If you haven’t noticed the site yet, I wanted to let you know that the site will be under construction for a few days, as part of the hint that I listed down below!! I am so excited and have been planning this for some time and I cannot wait to share with you all the cool exciting things that is happening here at Sweet Magnolia! :D So just bear with me, it will be worth it!

I wear many hats!

One of which is also a designer! :)

Robin and Titus (see a couple posts below) is getting married on January 31, 2009, and I was so excited when Robin asked me to design her Save the Date cards to send out to all their guests.

Here is the final product! Click the image to enlarge it. They are going to be so neat- little refrigerator magnets!

Call me or email me for more information on these, I would love to design some for your wedding or next event!

Out of the Office

Hey everyone!

I am officially out of the office until Monday- I am headed off to shoot an incredible wedding with my good buddy Kylene and a hot engagement session around downtown Jacksonville. See you on Monday, I hope you have a fabulous summer weekend :D

Stay tuned next week for:

Susan + Andrew - Esession

Sneek peeks from the wedding in Jacksonville!

A possible hint/another sneek peek for the “What’s in the Works” post below.

Hasta luego!

Blake + Kiley + Baby ?

Blake and Kiley are going to be welcoming their first child, a girl, into the world sometime in July. I just spoke with Blake a few minutes ago to tell him that I would be posting the slideshow in the next little bit, and I was so happy to learn that the baby may make her debut a little sooner than expected. Kiley is beautiful and absolutely glowing, and I can’t wait to see the two of them as parents. They have so much love to give this child- Blake is HI-LARIOUS and Kiley is gentle and compassionate. :) Congratulations you two, I can’t wait to photograph your new baby!
Here are some of my favorites from the session and a slideshow at the end!

Whoa mama! Hot-hot-hot tamale! :)

Again… work it girl!!!

This was too cute. I love these two!

Then it was onto some boxing! I love this series, it makes me smile. It’s like Kiley is saying “THATS for getting me into this!”
:)

FAVORITE ALERT!

I had a great time with you guys! Enjoy your slideshow!

Albums

Albums are a great way to preserve your memories in a hip, chic way. The album company that I use is amazing, and I have really had a great experience with them. Here is an album I am getting ready to submit for printing, and I will be sure to post images when it gets here! :)

The Daily Grind

Hey everyone! Wow, so much has been going on the past few days that I have barely had a chance to even catch my breath!

This past weekend (Happy Belated Memorial Day to everyone, by the way- I hope it was fabulous and restful! God Bless America and all our troops!!!) was a crazy one. Michael (my fiance) and I traveled to my hometown of Destin, Florida, to meet with our pastor about our premarital counseling. We went out to dinner at Nick’s, this little “hole in the wall” restaurant that has been in Choctaw Beach for a hundred years. And can I tell you that the food was fantastic!!! Oh my gosh, seriously the only place that can cook a steak right (well, except for my daddy of course! :) ). Anyway’s, we had dinner and both got some cool t-shirts that say’s “I got my crabs at Nick’s” on the back! :)

Our pastor is wonderful. Reverand Doug Newton will be marrying us this year. We have a whole family history with him and it is super special to me that he will be marrying Michael and me this year. Rev. Doug married my parents, baptised me as a baby, and now will be performing my marriage ceremony. He has the kindest heart and always the right words to say. He is also one of the most generous people I know. This year, in June, he will be taking his wife and the church’s choir to Jamaica where they will minister to the poverty stricken neighborhoods and homeless children. They will also be constructing homes for those that have lost everything in Hurricane Dean. The way that he spoke of this trip, you could really see the love in his eyes and compassion for the people of Jamaica. But even more, you can see his love for the Lord in his generosity of spirit. God Bless you Reverend Doug, I will be praying for you and everyone’s safe return!

Some things I have coming up in the next few days: my friend Maranda is having a baby! We are so excited and can’t wait for baby Brayden to be here! If everything goes as planned, I will be there to capture the birth and Brayden’s newborn portraits! I love babies, and Brayden is super special because Maranda is one of my “best good” :) friends and I am so happy for her!

On another note, my friend Kylene and I will be trashing her wedding dress in the next couple weeks! Kylene is a great friend and amazing photographer, and I was thrilled when she said that we were going to go out and play! I am so excited!

Lots of cool stuff coming up too! I have a new album company and am waiting on my album to arrive- so I will be posting some new images from that when it gets here!

Somewhere in the middle of all this, I hope to catch a few zzz’s :) But I am loving my life and am so thankful for every day. I have the most amazing friends and readers, and I am excited at all the opportunities God has coming for me!

Thanks for stopping by and catching up with me, I promise I haven’t abandoned ya’ll! :)

The Rosens

Oh my gosh. I have known Courtney from way-back-when. All the way back, in fact, to middle school. We lost touch after I transferred to a public high school, but since we have gotten older, we have become better friends.:)
To tell you what a small world this is, Courtney and I reconnected at her cousin Whitney’s wedding, which I was attending as a guest, but Courtney was the photographer! Yes, Courtney is ALSO a photographer! We started chatting about everything from cameras and lenses to babies, and quickly got caught up. A couple weeks later, she called me up and asked me if I would come hang out and shoot a few shots of the family.
Courtney has a wonderful husband, Jon, and beautiful daughter-Taylor Marie- and another beautiful little girl on the way! I wanted to get some great shots of her pregnancy combined with the love of her family.
Courtney, thank you so much for calling me! I had a great time, we need to definitely keep in touch, and call me for sure if you want newborn pictures. I would be thrilled!

my mother

Mother’s Day is coming up, and I am reminded that my mother is seriously the most amazing woman I have ever met. I am so proud to call her “mom”.

Last night, I was so exhausted after a long evening of post processing. It was late and as I was getting ready to go to bed, she called and told me that she had posted a comment on Natalie Norton’s blog on the image of mine that Natalie had featured.

I got up this morning, and this is the wondeful, encouraging comment my mom left:

When you were little you didn’t crawl very long and as a young photographer your work is truly a testament to your ability of staying focused and commited with your insight of shots caught at the blink of the eye. Stay the course and all your dreams of photgraphy work are only “baby steps away” and always believe in yourself. Love, Mom

Mom, I love you very much and I couldn’t have been blessed with a better mother than you. I know we don’t always see eye to eye on everything, but you will always be the number 1 mom in my heart.

Your daughter, XOXO

Lauren
